We are currently looking for an Inspector Trainee, Boiler and Pressure Vessels in Darlington.
Position Summary:
Inspector Trainees are represented by the Ontario Public Service Employee Union - OPSEU/SEFPO, Local 546. As an Inspector Trainee, you will be trained provide safety management services to our industry customers and the public through on-site inspections. You will ensure compliance to codes, standards, safety bulletins, and the Technical Standards & Safety Act and Regulations.
We are looking for individuals who are technically strong and have an eye for detail. Our inspectors are team players with excellent problem solving skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- For the first 12 months you will be provided in-house training, job shadowing, participating all the training to write the Ontario Certificate of Competency and will be able to obtain the National Board “IS” and “AI” Commission and ‘N’ and ‘R’ Endorsement.
- As an Inspector, you will promote public safety through the periodic/in-service inspection and certification of boilers, pressure vessels and pressure piping.
- You will perform both conventional and nuclear shop inspections for the manufacturing of boilers and pressure vessels.
- In addition, you will also apply your technical proficiency by conducting welder and brazer tests and by monitoring repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels.
- As a strong communicator, you will develop progressive relationships with your internal and external customers to promote safety-oriented results.
Job Qualifications:
- You are qualified to write the Ontario Certificate of Competency and will be able to obtain the National Board “IS” and “AI” Commission and ‘N’ and ‘R’ Endorsement.
- Your three years experience in the BPV industry is coupled with a general understanding of related CSA and ASME BPV codes, the Technical Standards and Safety Act, and BPV Regulations.
- You are required to show effective decision-making, business management, communication, and intermediate computer skills.
- As this position requires daily travel, a valid Ontario driver’s license is required.
